Morawiecki Thanks the Gazeta Polska Clubs: “It Was a Very Successful and Necessary Action”

“I am convinced that those in power today have a plan aimed at discrediting the election results,” said former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during Tomasz Sakiewicz’s program Polityczna Kawa on TV Republika.

While the Supreme Court was reviewing electoral complaints, a large demonstration organized by the Gazeta Polska Clubs took place in front of the court building in Warsaw, defending both the Supreme Court and the democratic outcome of the elections. The protest was in response to reports that security services might enter the court to secure electoral materials. As is well known, some politicians from the ruling coalition openly question the democratic decision made by Poles on June 1st, when they chose Karol Nawrocki as president.

Former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki appeared today on Polityczna Kawa, where he summed up recent events.

“I am convinced that the ruling coalition has a plan to discredit the election results, to undermine their value, to suggest that ‘something wasn’t quite right.’ The information that the election was lost was communicated on June 2nd, but as is often the case, the ruling coalition was caught off guard. It’s like a vibrating fist — it takes a moment for the impact to be felt, but then they realize things are falling apart, that they’re starting to come apart at the seams,” Morawiecki said.

“I believe that entering the Supreme Court was part of their planned operation,” the former Prime Minister continued. Then came a moment of gratitude…

“I want to congratulate and thank Republika and the Gazeta Polska Clubs for their swift response. Within a few hours, they organized blockades that prevented potentially nefarious government actions. Had there been physical confrontations, had the police attacked a patriotic gathering, the government’s approval ratings would have plummeted. It was a very successful and necessary action,” said Sakiewicz’s guest.

“The attempt to challenge the election results is an effort to build a sect of loyal followers for Tusk and Giertych — one that can survive the lean years ahead for Civic Platform. All international leaders, except Putin and Lukashenko, have congratulated Karol Nawrocki. Yet Prime Minister Tusk has still not done so. He cannot seem to come to terms with defeat,” Morawiecki added, emphasizing that Nawrocki “withstood the attacks and ultimately emerged a great victor.”
