The General Police Headquarters announced a nationwide speed enforcement campaign, “Speed,” on Monday. This initiative aims to ensure drivers adhere to speed limits, reducing traffic accidents caused by excessive speed.
International Coordination
This operation is part of a broader international effort coordinated by the European Traffic Police Network (ROADPOL). Polish traffic officers will focus on areas with high incidences of speed-related accidents, employing speed measurement techniques to catch violators and promote safer driving habits.
Special police units known as SPEED groups will also participate in this campaign. Their primary mission is to counteract dangerous driving behaviors, particularly speeding, which poses a significant risk to road safety.
Call for Caution
The General Police Headquarters highlighted that inappropriate speed is a leading cause of fatal traffic accidents. They urge drivers to observe speed limits and exercise extra caution, especially near pedestrian crossings, bicycle paths, and intersections, where vigilance is crucial for preventing accidents.
