“The elections on May 18 are not just a choice between Karol Nawrocki and Rafał Trzaskowski,” said Karol Nawrocki, the civic presidential candidate supported by Law and Justice (PiS), during a convention in Łódź. “What’s truly important is that on May 18 we will see a clash between a product of political laboratories—crafted from briefs and polls and appointed by Donald Tusk—and a man of flesh and blood, someone established by Poles and for Poles.”
Nawrocki’s Speech at the Convention in Łódź
Today, a campaign convention for Karol Nawrocki was held in Łódź. At the start of his speech, the presidential candidate addressed the voters directly:
“My dear compatriots, thank you for being here with such strong faith and hope for our victory on May 18. We are marching toward victory for Poland on May 18! Once again, as the late President Lech Kaczyński wrote, with your faith and hope, we will prove that it is worth being Polish. That is what these elections are about!”
Nawrocki also expressed gratitude for the support of President Andrzej Duda, emphasizing:
“The presidential campaign is a time full of challenges, emotions, and meetings with wonderful Polish men and women. Today’s event is especially meaningful for me—and, I believe, for all of us. Today, I received the endorsement of the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Andrzej Duda—a man who, in 2015, walked the same path I am walking now toward victory. A man who has greatly helped me during this campaign by sharing his experience. Above all, he is our President, who for the past ten years has faithfully served the Polish state and remains one of the last strongholds of our nation’s security, common sense, and normalcy in a Poland led by Donald Tusk, where democracy often seems to be little more than conflict. The President of the Republic of Poland stands today as the last bastion of this country’s normalcy.”
He continued by thanking other key figures:
“I would also like to express my deep gratitude to the distinguished intellectual, editor Bronisław Wildstein, for bearing witness to our cooperation. A man who fought against communism before 1989, today a prominent writer and a sensitive soul—what matters most to me is that he observed my work at the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN). Your endorsement, as a member of the Civic Committee and a representative of all the wonderful Civic Committees across Poland, is a tremendous honor. Thank you, editor. I also thank President Jarosław Kaczyński—the most effective politician in the history of the Third Republic of Poland! An anti-communist opposition figure whose decisions after 1989 helped shape our reality. Among those decisions, I am included. The courage of the entire Law and Justice community in supporting an independent, civic candidate who has never belonged to any political party is proof that what matters most is Poland itself. Citizens will have their representative in the Presidential Palace! Thank you to all PiS leaders, councilors, and supporters, and to the members of the Solidarity movement working tirelessly for our shared success.”
According to Nawrocki, “it is a remarkable feature of this campaign that politicians, citizens, and individuals from various backgrounds—many who have never been involved in political parties—are coming together with one goal: a prosperous, normal, safe, and thriving Poland.”
“Marta, I Love You”. Nawrocki also addressed his wife, Marta:
“My wonderful wife, who invited me onto this stage, whom I love dearly—so I may be a little biased—Marta, I love you. A sensitive woman, as proven by our three children, but also a strong, determined woman who has served the Polish state. I hope she will continue to do so as the future First Lady, a role for which she is perfectly suited.”
1000 Years Since the Coronation of Bolesław Chrobry
The candidate also spoke about the 1000th anniversary of the coronation of Bolesław Chrobry:
“The millennium since the coronation of Bolesław Chrobry—our first king—gives meaning to this gathering and prompts us to look into the future while reflecting on who we are as contemporary Poles. I am glad that all political circles in Poland have recognized this anniversary and its historical importance. However, I fear not everyone fully understands the symbolism of Chrobry’s coronation. He was a king who prioritized sovereignty—even in relation to what is today Germany and then Prussia. He bound Poland forever to Christian values and Latin culture. Over the centuries, these values have been enriched by our history as a tolerant nation, as demonstrated during the era of the Jagiellonian dynasty and the Second Polish Republic. A nation of solidarity and freedom, who kept these ideals alive through partitions and two brutal occupations—German and Soviet. These are the values that paint the emotional and moral canvas of modern-day Poland: sovereignty, freedom, openness to other cultures that respect ours, and tolerance. These are Christian values, and as President, I vow to defend them.”
He added:
“We know ourselves. We know who we are and what values we stand for. That is why today we speak about the Poland of tomorrow—aware that we must not allow the directors of national amnesia to erase our history and our memory, for there lies our greatness, our ambitions, and our values.”
Nawrocki to Tusk: “You Will Not Take Away Our Past!”
Finally, Nawrocki addressed Prime Minister Donald Tusk directly:
“Mr. Prime Minister, you will not take away our past, and we will step boldly into the future because we know who we are!”
He reiterated that:
“The May 18 elections are not just a contest between Karol Nawrocki and Rafał Trzaskowski. It is a choice between a product of political engineering— composed from polling briefs and designed for Donald Tusk — and a real man of flesh and blood, chosen by and for the Polish people. That matters! One candidate has never been, and never will be, the hostage of any political party — he will be bound only to the people of Poland. The other is already a hostage, not only to businessmen and developers in Poland but also to Mr. Soros and German foundations. And we want freedom and sovereignty!”
