Nawrocki Reaches Out to Football Fans: “They Are Courageous”

“Fans are also part of civil society across Poland,” noted presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki during a visit to Chojnice today. The presidential campaign ahead of the 2025 elections is in full swing, and football fans are playing a notable role. Banners critical of Rafał Trzaskowski have been appearing in stadiums. At one of Trzaskowski’s campaign events, when some fans showed up, the Warsaw mayor mocked them.

Karol Nawrocki, however, has taken a very different approach. During his visit to Chojnice today, he made a significant gesture toward the fan community.

“I visited a club you’re no doubt proud of — Chojniczanka Chojnice,” Nawrocki began, addressing supporters of the local team, currently fourth in Poland’s second football league.

“I see fans here as well, and I welcome them. I’m glad to see supporters with us. Fans are part of civil society all across Poland. They are brave, and they are ready to voice their views regardless of which government or political party is in power,” he said.

Nawrocki also spoke about boxing, particularly the local Gruchała Team from Chojnice. “You have the best boxing club in Pomerania — congratulations to the people of Chojnice. And sports, especially boxing, teach us something important: on this journey to May 18, we may fall and rise again, but the goal is victory — and we can only achieve that together,” he emphasized.

“We’ll stay determined on this path, because Poland needs us. And we will win on May 18,” he added.
