Nawrocki recalls painful history: “Poles have the right to speak out”

“I believe that we Poles have the right to speak loudly about the fact that during World War II (WWII) we suffered exceptionally, and we also have the right to emphasize this strongly,” said President Karol Nawrocki in front of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk.

President Karol Nawrocki traveled to Gdańsk on Sunday. There, he took part in the 2nd Jan Bianga Memorial and laid a wreath at the monument of Captain Witold Pilecki. He also visited the Museum of the Second World War.

“Thank you for being with me today. I dedicated this day to heroes – first, the Jan Bianga Memorial, who was ready to suffer for his attachment to values and freedom. Then, I paid tribute to the greatest Polish hero of the 20th century, Captain Pilecki – the hero of resistance. I also toured the exhibition at the Museum of the Second World War. I thank everyone who, years ago, called for the restoration of heroes to the exhibition. We have shown that social pressure works,”

said the President.

Nawrocki also spoke up for St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe. “He is present in the exhibition, but not in the form he deserves. I understand that there is a difference in sensitivity between myself and the current management,” noted the President.
