New Commander Chosen for Eurocorps: General Piotr Błazeusz to Replace Gromadziński

In a recent development announced by the Ministry of National Defense (MON), General Piotr Błazeusz, the former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, has been appointed as the new commander of the Eurocorps, replacing General Jarosław Gromadziński.

The announcement came from the MON spokesperson, Janusz Sejmej, yesterday. This decision follows a statement released by the Ministry on Wednesday afternoon, indicating that the Military Counterintelligence Service had initiated a control procedure regarding the personal security clearance of General Jarosław Gromadziński, “in connection with obtaining new information about the officer.” Consequently, General Gromadziński was recalled from his position as the commander of the Eurocorps and immediately returned to the country.

“I inform you that General Piotr Błazeusz, the former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, will be the new commander of the Eurocorps,”

    MON spokesperson Janusz Sejmej announced.

In response to these developments, General Jarosław Gromadziński released a statement on social media later in the evening. In his statement, he emphasized his dedication to his military service over the past 34 years, always prioritizing the interests of the service and the country, often at the expense of his family.

“Throughout my career, serving in staff and command positions, both domestically and abroad, as well as collaborating with NATO allies, I have always represented the Polish military uniform with dignity. I want to assure you that I have nothing to reproach myself for. I believe that the control procedure initiated by the Military Counterintelligence Service will end positively for me,”

    wrote General Gromadziński.
