Mainstream Media vs. Nawrocki. Former Prime Minister Thanks TV Republika

“The fact that 80% of the media supports the current government is a clear sign of a massive imbalance in access to truthful information. You at TV Republika are today an oasis of freedom — and for that, I also thank you,” said former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during a live appearance on TV Republika.

Morawiecki, a Law and Justice MP and head of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) group, appeared as a guest on Danuta Holecka’s show “Guest of the Day.”

The conversation touched on several key issues — notably, the harsh campaign waged by mainstream outlets against Karol Nawrocki, the independent candidate embroiled in controversy over an apartment in Gdańsk.

Although both Nawrocki, who heads the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), and his team have repeatedly explained the matter, the so-called “December 13 coalition” shows no sign of backing down. It’s widely suspected that the media obtained details of Nawrocki’s asset declaration from intelligence services — a move that was publicly warned against some time ago by Professor Sławomir Cenckiewicz, also on TV Republika.

Morawiecki: A Scandal of Unprecedented Scale

According to Morawiecki, “The leak of such materials from preliminary proceedings is an unprecedented scandal.”

He argued that the full power of the state apparatus and its services has been deployed to support Rafał Trzaskowski, targeting the only candidate who, in his view, had genuinely good intentions and simply wanted to help someone in need.

The former prime minister also emphasized the role media have played in amplifying the controversy — singling out TV Republika for praise.

“The fact that 80% of the media supports the current government is a clear sign of a massive imbalance in access to truthful information. You at TV Republika are today an oasis of freedom — and for that, I also thank you,” he said.
