Subcarpathian Voivodeship’s investment in new railway rolling stock, backed by EU funding, promises improved connectivity, safety, and accessibility in Poland’s railway system.
Poland’s commitment to enhancing its transport infrastructure has received a significant boost with the recent acquisition of modern railway rolling stock in the Podkarpacie region. The investment, backed by European Union funding, underscores the region’s dedication to providing top-tier public services and improving railway transportation.
Under the leadership of the Podkarpacie regional government, eight new electric-powered railway vehicles and four traction units have been introduced to serve regional train routes. This multimillion-dollar initiative, with a total cost of 341 million Polish złoty and 144 million złoty in EU support, aims to revolutionize the railway experience for passengers.
The purchase of new rolling stock prioritizes passenger safety and comfort. Innovative, ergonomic design solutions promise a heightened level of safety for travelers. Additionally, these upgrades will greatly improve accessibility for passengers with disabilities, aligning with Poland’s ongoing transformation of its railway sector.
Poland is currently witnessing a transformative shift in its railway industry. Extensive line modernizations and the introduction of increasingly modern trains have resulted in elevated passenger comfort and safety. Furthermore, railway services are becoming more accessible to individuals with disabilities. Highlighting the importance of investing in regional and local railway connections, the Secretary of State emphasized the role these developments play in countering transportation exclusion.
The Deputy Minister for Funds and Regional Policy encouraged leveraging EU funds for the 2021-2027 period to support public transportation project. The acquisition of new railway rolling stock in Podkarpacie marks a significant step forward in Poland’s pursuit of an efficient, safe, and accessible railway system. This investment not only enhances regional connectivity but also contributes to the overall economic development of the country.
