New Scandal Surrounding the Justice Fund in Żurek’s Ministry. “This Looks Like a Systemic Disgrace”

The failure to resolve competitions for aid to victims of crime from the Justice Fund is not the only issue. Another case has come to light, further compromising the current leadership of the Ministry of Justice. It turns out the problem also concerns the implementation of post-penitentiary assistance from the Justice Fund. The current support program ends on December 31, and the competition for 2026 was announced by the Ministry of Justice on December 23, 2025, at 05:49 p.m.

In recent days, the Justice Fund issue has made headlines again. The ministry failed to finalize the competition for assistance to victims of crime, meaning they will not receive support. In addition, the ministry hired an external company from Warsaw for about PLN 1 million to evaluate formal applications.

As revealed by attorney Adam Gomoła, the company approached Karolina Święcicka with a job offer. She had spent several months in detention at the request of the prosecutor in connection with an investigation concerning the Justice Fund.

But that is not the end. As Gomoła revealed today, the problem also affects the implementation of post-penitentiary assistance from the Justice Fund.

The lawyer emphasized that aid for released prisoners to reintegrate into society has been provided from the Justice Fund for many years, and the current two-year support program ends with the close of 2025.

“The competition for such assistance to NGOs for 2026 was announced on December 23, 2025, at 17:49 (!) The deadline for submitting offers is January 23, 2026. Over PLN 9 million is at stake. And where is the review of applications (the external entity is waiting?), and where are the contracts and their implementation!”

Playing to Sink the Justice Fund

The lawyer assessed that “this looks like a systemic disgrace and the collapse” of the Justice Fund. “The Justice Fund is sinking. There will be no aid for victims after January 1, 2026. No post-penitentiary assistance either. There is still support for witnesses and crime prevention, but one is afraid to ask about that,” stated attorney Bartosz Lewandowski.

“Under Minister Żurek, the Justice Fund is drowning in scandals. The law is being broken. Victims are ignored. Mandatory aid for those released from prison – trampled. Responsibility has a name: Waldemar Żurek,”

assessed former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro.
