Once again, flying objects from Belarus have appeared over Polish territory. “This incident constitutes another in a series of hybrid-type incidents observed in eastern Poland,” the Operational Command of the Armed Forces reported.
The hybrid attack carried out from Belarus is intensifying. Objects equipped with GPS transmitters are entering Polish airspace. Despite the official narrative about “smuggling balloons” carrying cigarettes, there is cause for concern. Given the nature of the eastern regimes, this may be an attempt to test the response of Polish services to a potential threat—especially since, as revealed by Niezalezna.pl, the cigarettes used in these provocations originate from a regime-controlled Belarusian factory.
Unfortunately, last night was also far from calm.
During the night of January 30–31, 2026, further incursions into Polish airspace were recorded, involving objects approaching from the direction of Belarus. Based on an analysis of flight parameters, they were assessed with a high degree of probability as balloons moving in line with current meteorological conditions. The flights were continuously monitored by military radar systems, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces informed.
As the Command added, in order to ensure safety, temporary restrictions were introduced on the use of parts of the airspace over the Podlaskie Voivodeship for civil aviation.
“These actions were preventive in nature and carried out in accordance with applicable procedures. No threat to the security of the airspace of the Republic of Poland was recorded,” the military stated.
“This incident is another in a series of hybrid-type incidents observed in eastern Poland. The Operational Command of the Armed Forces remains in constant contact with the relevant institutions and services, conducting ongoing information exchange and sharing data concerning the observed objects. The situation is being continuously monitored, and the Polish Armed Forces remain ready to carry out tasks related to the protection of Polish airspace,” the statement reads.
The Border Guard has once again adopted a familiar narrative. “These are probably smuggling balloons,” it announced.
