Onet’s Fake News About Prof. Cenckiewicz. Presidential Spokesman Issues Denial

Lie” – this is how Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), commented on a publication by the Onet news portal. Onet claimed that BBN had allegedly “demanded access from the Ministry of Defense to the personnel records system of Polish Army soldiers.” The information provided by Onet was also denied by the Spokesman for the President of Poland, Dr. Rafał Leśkiewicz.

Onet wrote that “the National Security Bureau, under the leadership of Sławomir Cenckiewicz, demanded access from the Ministry of Defense to the personnel records system of Polish Army soldiers.”

The claims were quickly refuted by the Presidential Spokesman, Dr. Rafał Leśkiewicz:

“The National Security Bureau did not request access to SEW Online. The SEW Online military records system is one of the tools used by the Armed Forces for organizational and personnel purposes. A number of Ministry of Defense institutions have access to the system. SEW Online is not a database of personal file dossiers. It is a tool different from personnel files, serving different purposes. Due to the classified nature of SEW Online, we cannot comment on its specific functionalities. Several years ago, BBN considered the potential benefits of gaining access to SEW Online for the purpose of safeguarding and supporting the Supreme Commander’s authority; however, that project was not pursued at the time.”

He added that the head of the National Security Bureau, Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz, and his deputies “act in accordance with their powers.”

“The head of BBN, Sławomir Cenckiewicz, has access to classified information by virtue of a ruling by the Provincial Administrative Court dated June 17, 2025. Discussions regarding general officer promotions were conducted in a spirit of agreement and jointly settled between the President of Poland, the head of BBN, and the Minister of Defense. The Deputy Head of BBN, Brig. Gen. A. Kowalski, and the Director of the Department of the Supreme Commander’s Authority over the Armed Forces at BBN, Maj. Gen. A. Rzeczkowski, do not operate based on political affiliations falsely attributed to them in the article, but are outstanding specialists in their respective fields of work and responsibility,” Leśkiewicz stated.

Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz also briefly responded to Onet’s publication, writing: “Lie!”
