Opole Closes Barriers as Flood Alarm Looms

On Sunday at 8 p.m., flood barriers were closed on the northern bypass of Opole near Jagiełły Street. According to city officials, a flood alarm will be declared overnight from Sunday to Monday as the Oder River is expected to rise.

    Oder River Reaches 6 Meters

The Oder River in Opole is projected to reach 6 meters, triggering a flood alarm. Despite the river’s rise, city authorities assure residents that this level does not pose a significant threat.

Due to the flood barriers’ closure, the northern bypass section from the Sobieskiego junction to the roundabout near Makro is entirely closed. Traffic is being redirected through Budowlanych, Nysy Łużyckiej, Wrocławska, and Obwodnica Piastowska streets. Additionally, a section of Jagiełły Street between Wolności and Krzanowiecka will be closed, with a detour via the Czarnowąsy bypass.
