Tomorrow, Andrzej Poczobut will receive the Order of the White Eagle from the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, presidential spokesperson Rafał Leśkiewicz announced on platform X.
“Tomorrow, during the celebrations of the May 3rd National Holiday at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Andrzej Poczobut will receive the Order of the White Eagle from the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki. The President awarded this steadfast Pole, a prisoner of Lukashenko’s regime, on November 11, 2025,” reads the full statement by Leśkiewicz.
The Order of the White Eagle is the highest decoration of the Republic of Poland, established in 1705 and reinstated in 1921. It is awarded for outstanding civil and military merits to the Republic of Poland, both in times of peace and war. It is not divided into classes and is conferred on the most distinguished Poles as well as the highest-ranking representatives of foreign states.
Poczobut Free
On Tuesday, April 28, a prisoner exchange took place at the Polish–Belarusian border on a “five for five” basis, under which authorities in Minsk released three Polish citizens and two Moldovan nationals. Among those freed was Andrzej Poczobut, a journalist and activist of the Polish minority in Belarus, who had been imprisoned since 2021.
In February 2023, Lukashenko’s regime sentenced Poczobut to eight years in a high-security penal colony. He was found guilty of allegedly “inciting hatred” and “calling for actions against state security.” He served his sentence, among other places, in the harsh prison in Navapolatsk.
