It was a great day for Poland in the world snowboarding championships in Bakuriani! Aleksandra Król and Oskar Kwiatkowski both took home medals – Król won the bronze, and Kwiatkowski finished first in the grand final to win the gold. This marks the first-ever alpine snowboard World Cup medals for Poland.

“We have Poland’s first ever WORLD CHAMPION in alpine snowboarding. Oskar Kwiatkowski is the medallist at the senior world championships in the parallel giant slalom in Bakuriani. Big applause for our Champion and the whole team. We are so proud of you,”

the Polish Ski Association wrote on Twitter.

Król, aged 32, earned a bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom culminating in the race. She capitalized on Lucia Dalmasso’s blunders, established a secure lead during the event, and finished the course without haste. This was the inaugural medal for Poland in the World Championships of Alpine Snowboarding.

Shortly after, Oskar Kwiatkowski emerged triumphant in the championship match. Having beaten Benjamin Karl in the semi-finals, the Pole had to go up against Dario Caviezel. After a fierce battle, Kwiatkowski was able to come out on top. He was able to beat his opponent by a mere 0.26 seconds and claimed the gold medal at the world championships!
