Paramedic Day: Celebrating the Heroes of Emergency Services

Following Article 1, Paragraph 2 of the Act on the Profession of Paramedics and the Paramedics’ Self-Government, passed on December 1, 2022, Paramedic Day is now officially celebrated every year on September 8. This special day honours the dedication and vital role that medical responders play in saving lives across Poland.

The Polish Society of Paramedics took the lead in organizing the observance of this holiday. During the legislative process for the aforementioned act in the Polish Parliament (Sejm), the Society proposed September 8 as the official date for Paramedic Day. Their suggestion was met with widespread support and subsequently approved by the Polish Parliament.

This annual celebration highlights the importance of medical responders, who are often the first to arrive at the scene of an emergency, providing critical care and support in life-threatening situations. As their contributions are formally recognized, Paramedic Day offers an opportunity to appreciate their dedication to public health and safety.
