A large demonstration against illegal migration is taking place in Zgorzelec. Participants crossed over to the German side and sang Mazurek Dąbrowskiego, the Polish national anthem.
The protest, held under the slogan “Stop Illegal Immigration,” was organized by Citizen Patrols and drew large crowds of Poles carrying national colors.
At one point, the protesters crossed into German territory and performed the Polish anthem there.
“We made it clear that we do not want German services to be transferring migrants. We don’t want them here,” said one of the participants during a broadcast on TV Republika. “People are fed up with lies, propaganda, and the spreading of hatred!” he added.
“We will not give up. We love this country above all else. If there’s no Poland, there’s no us,” the man emphasized.
Confederation MEP Tomasz Buczek also attended the protest. “More and more nations across Europe are beginning to realize the consequences of the policies their governments have imposed on them for years. Germany now wants to shift those consequences onto Poland. We do not want such policies. We are standing firm,” he stated.
