“Karol Nawrocki is credible, he will veto the increase of the retirement age”, said Piotr Duda, head of Solidarność, during Karol Nawrocki’s program conference.
Common Demands
Piotr Duda stated that in the program agreement with Karol Nawrocki, among 11 points, there are demands that have been jointly developed over the past 10 years by Solidarność, President Andrzej Duda, and the United Right.
“These are very positive solutions for Poland and Poles. And we will defend them,” assured Piotr Duda.
We Won the Battle Over the Retirement Age
The chairman of Solidarność recalled the union’s struggle against the government of Donald Tusk regarding the retirement age increase when Tusk called the union members “brats.”
“We lost that battle, but we won the war. That key demand was included in the program agreement with President Andrzej Duda when he was still a candidate,”
– Piotr Duda emphasized, adding that once Andrzej Duda took office, together with Prime Minister Beata Szydło, Solidarność kept its word, and the retirement age was not raised.
The chairman also stressed that this point is crucial for workers in Poland and expressed his belief that if Karol Nawrocki becomes president, he will veto any law aimed at extending the working age.
