    Estimated reading time: 1 minute

The 72nd edition of the Four Hills Tournament kicks off in Oberstdorf on Friday, with Piotr Żyła leading the charge as the first jumper. The Polish team, having successfully navigated Thursday’s qualifiers, is set to face off in head-to-head duels. Despite a lackluster performance, all of Thomas Thurnbichler’s athletes made it through, aiming to up their game in the upcoming rounds.

In the opening clash, Piotr Żyła goes up against 18-year-old American Tate Frantz, who boasts a single World Cup point in his career. Following him, Dawid Kubacki takes on Killian Peier, the consistent scorer with 48 points in the current season.

As the competition intensifies, Maciej Kot faces Manuel Fettner, and Kamil Stoch squares off against Lovro Kos, a dark horse for this edition. Aleksander Zniszczoła encounters a formidable opponent in Stephan Leyhe, while Paweł Wąsek’s potential victory over Ryoyu Kobayashi would be a remarkable upset.
