PiS Announces Accountability for Tusk’s Team Over Alleged Violations of the Law. “Criminal Consequences”

“Groundless, fabricated charges, hand-picked judges, manipulated judicial panels, and a constant media campaign conducted by pro-government outlets have nothing in common with either democracy or the rule of law. Instead, they evoke associations with the darkest chapters of our history,” reads a resolution adopted by the Political Committee of Law and Justice (PiS), referring to what the party describes as unlawful actions taken by the current government. The resolution also addresses what PiS sees as the authorities’ repression of independent media.

Speaking at a press conference following the meeting of the PiS Political Committee, party spokesman Rafał Bochenek announced that the party’s 2025 financial report had been approved. He added that several substantive decisions had also been made.

“A Sign of Disrespect”

One of the issues discussed concerned President Karol Nawrocki’s initiative aimed at revoking the Order of the White Eagle awarded to Volodymyr Zelensky. On this matter, the PiS Political Committee unanimously adopted a resolution expressing support for the president’s initiative.

The resolution recalled that the Order of the White Eagle is Poland’s oldest and highest state decoration, awarded for exceptional service to the nation. It emphasized that Zelensky’s decision to name a Ukrainian military unit after the “Heroes of the UPA” is contrary to Poland’s national interest.

“Glorifying the activities of the UPA, which was responsible for the genocide of Polish citizens, including women and children, demonstrates a lack of respect for Polish historical memory and historical truth. For the reasons outlined above, the decision of the President of Ukraine cannot be left without a clear and critical response from the highest representatives of the Polish state,” the resolution states.

Consequences for Harassing the Opposition

The PiS Political Committee also adopted a second resolution, condemning “all actions of the December 13 coalition involving the political use of the entire state apparatus, including the prosecution service, to harass and intimidate free and independent media, as well as Law and Justice politicians, their families, and individuals associated with broadly understood opposition circles.”

“Since the beginning of its term in office, the current coalition has been conducting political witch hunts in an attempt to cover up its incompetence, negligence, and failure to fulfill any of its election promises. Groundless, fabricated charges, hand-picked judges, manipulated judicial panels, and a permanent media campaign by pro-government outlets have nothing in common with either democracy or the rule of law. Instead, they evoke associations with the darkest chapters of our history. Law and Justice assures that, following a change of government through the democratic process, all necessary actions will be taken to hold those responsible for these abuses accountable, including through criminal proceedings,” the resolution states.
