At the Warsaw headquarters of Law and Justice (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość, PiS), the party’s leader, Jarosław Kaczyński, delivered an important statement. In the presence of key figures from the party – including former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, as well as Antoni Macierewicz, Mariusz Błaszczak, former head of government Beata Szydło, Przemysław Czarnek, Patryk Jaki, Elżbieta Witek, and Joachim Brudziński – the leader of the United Right set out a clear course for the coming months. The message was unambiguous: the party is united and ready to fight for a return to power.
In his address, Jarosław Kaczyński emphasized that a recent meeting of the party leadership had confirmed complete consensus on strategic goals.
“And here there were no voices other than those recognizing that this is the only path, that this is the path we must take and will take,” the PiS leader stated. As he added, it is a path that “must lead us to success, to victory.”
An End to Dreams of a Split
The leader of Law and Justice firmly addressed media speculation about alleged tensions and conflicts within the party, calling them wishful thinking on the part of political opponents.
“These are the dreams of our opponents; those dreams will certainly not come true,”
Jarosław Kaczyński said.
He assured that although substantive programmatic discussions would continue, they would have nothing to do with the media-created image of internal frictions. “They certainly will not be discussions that have anything to do with any tensions, let alone splits within the party,” he said, cutting short the speculation.
“The Path of Refusing Consent for Poland to Be Strangled”
The PiS leader defined his party’s political course as an uncompromising defense of Polish sovereignty and national interests. He explained that Law and Justice would “follow this straightforward path, the path of refusing consent for Poland to be strangled.”
According to Jarosław Kaczyński, attempts to limit Poland’s independence are taking place on three main planes:
- economic, where Poland is to be pushed into a peripheral role;
- social, through the imposition of foreign cultural models;
- fundamental, directly concerning state sovereignty.
The overarching goal is a “sovereign [Poland], with conditions for rapid development,” capable of achieving economic parity with the wealthiest countries in Europe.
A Condition for Return and Generational Change
Jarosław Kaczyński left no doubt that implementing this ambitious vision is possible only under one condition. “Those who know how to govern must return to power,” he stressed. At the same time, he announced the opening of the party to a younger generation of activists.
“People from another generation must also take part – young, often much younger. And certainly, in the course of everything we will present before the elections, you will see that this is exactly how it will be,”
declared the leader of the United Right.
The meeting concluded with New Year’s wishes extended to supporters, all citizens, and the journalists present in the room. “All the best, and that regardless of whether you like us or perhaps like us less,” Jarosław Kaczyński summed up with a smile.
