Recent public opinion polls show that Law and Justice (PiS) is recording an increase in support. Is this the “Czarnek effect,” after he was announced as the party’s candidate for prime minister? “Once again, Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński knew what he was doing,” assessed Mariusz Błaszczak.
At the beginning of March, at the Sokół Hall in Kraków during the Law and Justice (PiS) convention, the party’s leader – Jarosław Kaczyński – announced that in the upcoming parliamentary elections, the party’s candidate for prime minister would be Prof. Przemysław Czarnek.
Since then, Czarnek has been traveling across Poland to hold as many meetings with citizens as possible ahead of the 2027 parliamentary elections. He has also been announcing further proposals aimed at helping citizens – for example, a bill to reduce VAT on food to zero, which he announced this morning.
It is clearly visible that the ratings of Law and Justice (PiS) in surveys of political support among Poles are beginning to improve. According to a new poll by Research Partner, if parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, support for the two largest groupings would be as follows:
Civic Platform (KO) would receive 30.6% of respondents’ votes (a decrease of 1 percentage point compared to the previous poll)
Law and Justice (PiS) – 26.4% (an increase of 1 percentage point)
Błaszczak on the “Czarnek Effect”
When asked whether this is indeed the “Czarnek effect,” Mariusz Błaszczak, head of the PiS parliamentary club, responded:
“Yes, indeed there is such an effect, which can be seen at the meetings […] there is clear momentum, people are coming in large numbers, and in the polls we commission, we also see growing support for Law and Justice, so once again Chairman Jarosław Kaczyński knew what he was doing,” he pointed out.
He also added that the party leadership has no intention of replacing its candidate for prime minister “with a better model.”
