PKW: Calm Elections, but More Offenses Reported Than Two Weeks Ago

“Overall, the elections are proceeding very calmly. We haven’t received many reports. Two weeks ago, there were three crime reports, and this time there’s only one,” said Sylwester Marciniak, Chairman of the National Electoral Commission (PKW), during a press conference.

However, the situation with electoral offenses looks worse than in the first round. During the first round of voting, 119 offenses were recorded—this time, the number has risen to 148.

“The offenses are evenly distributed across the country. One or two reports involved violations of the election silence period online,” Marciniak noted.

Authorities received one report of property damage classified as a crime, 77 reports of banner damage or removal, 42 cases of campaigning during the silence period, and 15 incidents of vandalizing election materials.

Marciniak also confirmed that overseas voting began on schedule. In 89 precincts across North and South America, voting has already concluded. The results will be announced only after polls close in Poland.

Nearly 29 million Poles are eligible to vote in the second round of the presidential election, with polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. More than 32,000 local electoral commissions have been established in Poland, along with 511 abroad. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, over 200,000 additional voters registered to vote abroad between the first and second rounds, bringing the total number of overseas voters to a record-breaking 700,000.
