Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki highlighted the government’s success in sealing the budget and fixing public finances. PM Morawiecki: “The greatest success is undoubtedly the tightening of the budget and the repair of public finances because this is the ancestral source of our successes in social policy.”
He emphasized that this was the source of their achievements in social policy. The premier also mentioned that the issue of a potential coalition would be considered after the elections.
Morawiecki stated that the implementation of social programs created by the Law and Justice government and its coalition partners would only be possible if the United Right wins the upcoming parliamentary elections. He added that he believes that the current opposition will return to the “politics of no,” which dominated before 2015.
According to Morawiecki, his government invests, builds, develops, and creates new jobs for citizens without differentiating between regions. In contrast, the opposition prioritized the development of large cities, neglecting districts and municipalities. This led to many Poles leaving for emigration, which was a great tragedy for them. Thanks to their economic policy and financial repair, there has been a return of thousands of Poles, which is a great joy for him.
The prime minister noted that continuity in government was crucial for continuing their social and economic programs and financial repair. He defined financial repair as a key element of the United Right government and also crucial for strengthening the country’s military potential. Tightening taxes is the basis for major investments in security and equipment purchases, including orders in the domestic defense industry, such as Krab or Rosomak.
When asked about a possible government coalition with The Confederation Liberty and Independence or Polish People’s Party (PSL) after the new parliament’s election, the prime minister preferred to leave such speculation until after the elections. According to him, one of the most important issues after winning the parliamentary elections in the fall of 2023 would be the construction of housing, which he considered one of the United Right’s weaknesses.
Last year, however, the construction of homes was a record with nearly 240,000 homes, the highest number ever delivered for use in the III RP era. The premier believes that reaching 300,000 homes delivered for use is possible within 3-4 years, but the third term of the United Right’s government will be crucial in this matter.
Morawiecki also promised to work on reforming the judiciary to make it more agreeable to the wider judiciary community, which he said consisted of many well-meaning people.
