“I’ve read those polls; if I were President Nawrocki, I wouldn’t be celebrating,” said Prime Minister Donald Tusk when asked about the exceptionally high level of public trust in President Karol Nawrocki. The question is whether Tusk himself has any reason to celebrate, given that according to the latest polls more than 50 percent of Poles hold a negative opinion of his government’s performance…
High support for the President. PM Tusk reacts
The head of the December 13 coalition government, Donald Tusk, was asked yesterday about the exceptionally high approval ratings of President Karol Nawrocki.
“I know that 50 percent of Poles view Karol Nawrocki positively; I’ve read those polls,” he stated.
He added that “if he were in President Nawrocki’s position, he wouldn’t be pleased with that level of support.”
“When we look at what support President Duda, President Komorowski, not to mention President Kwaśniewski, had after their first 100 days, it’s clear that this is not an impressive figure,” he declared.
Poles positive about the president’s performance
A CBOS poll indicates that President Karol Nawrocki tops the ranking of trust in politicians: as many as 57 percent of respondents trust him. Meanwhile, the IBRIS research center conducted a poll marking Nawrocki’s first 100 days in office, asking Poles how they assess his presidency. As many as 55.8 percent of respondents rated the head of state’s performance positively. Only 30.8 percent of Poles held the opposite view. Another 13.4 percent had no clear opinion.
What contributes to President Nawrocki’s high level of public trust is the fact that – unlike the December 13 coalition – he has been fulfilling his campaign promises step by step.
At the same time, support for the December 13 coalition government and for Prime Minister Donald Tusk himself has been steadily declining for months. According to an October United Surveys poll for WP, 35.5 percent of respondents hold a positive opinion of Donald Tusk’s government, while as many as 52.8 percent expressed the opposite view.
