In Poland, since the fall of communism, 1 May is celebrated as Labour Day (Polish: Święto Pracy). It is customary for labour activists to organize parades in cities and towns across Poland.
The marches and rallies are attended by union members, workers and their families, as well as politicians from across the political spectrum. The events focused on the importance of freedom of association and the rights of workers. Speeches from union leaders and politicians addressed the issues of fair wages, the right to collective bargaining, and better working conditions.
