Poland Mobilizes Troops to Strengthen Border Security Amidst Soaring Migrant Numbers

In a bid to bolster border security and manage the escalating influx of illegal migrants, Poland has made a significant announcement. Following a press conference held by Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski on Tuesday morning, it was revealed that Poland would be implementing temporary controls on its border with Slovakia, commencing from midnight.

The decision comes as Slovakia reported a staggering 1,000 percent increase in the number of illegal migrants entering its territory compared to the previous year. Addressing the media, Kaminski emphasized the necessity of these controls to address the pressing issue of unlawful migration.

Later in the day, Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak took to the X platform to unveil the government’s plan. “The Polish Army will support the Border Guard on the border with Slovakia,” he declared. Operational troops, territorial defense forces, and engineering units are set to be deployed to the border region to reinforce security measures.

Blaszczak made it clear that these soldiers would possess the same authority as the Border Guard, enabling them to conduct thorough inspections and carry out necessary actions to maintain order and safety along the border. The move is a proactive response aimed at curbing the flow of migrants traversing Poland, with a significant portion destined for Germany.

The Polish government’s decision underscores its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its borders and ensuring the safety of its citizens. As the situation unfolds, Poland remains resolute in its efforts to address this challenging issue head-on.
