Poland Shines Bright: Drzazga’s Silver Sparkles at European Weightlifting Championships

Poland started strong at the European Weightlifting Championships, securing an early medal. Oliwia Drzazga’s outstanding performance in the 49 kg category earned her a silver medal, showcasing the team’s potential at the prestigious event in Sofia.

Drzazga lifted a total of 170 kg, demonstrating her skill and determination amidst tough competition. Despite her impressive performance, Romanian athlete Valentina Cambei emerged as the European Champion, lifting 199 kg in total.

Tham Nguyen from Ireland claimed third place with a total lift of 169 kg, closely trailing Drzazga by just 1 kg. Poland’s athletes will return to the platform on Wednesday, aiming to build on their success.

The Championships offer European contenders the last chance to qualify for the Paris Games, intensifying the competition. Poland’s strong start signals a promising journey ahead, following disappointing Olympic outings in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.
