Poland’s dream of advancing to quarter-finals is over

    Estimated reading time: 1 minute

The Polish national team put up difficult conditions for Spain in their first match in the World Championships’ main phase. Unfortunately, the exciting match did not end in victory for the Poles and thus they lost their chance to advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

From the very beginning, the white and red team set difficult conditions for the favourites. Most of the first half was very even. Each goal was followed by another. At the end of the first half, unfortunately, the Spaniards took a four-goal lead (15:11). The Poles, however, threw down the gauntlet and almost draw (16:15).

At the start of the second half, the Poles showed a very motivated face. After a while, there was a draw. In the 40th minute, Spain’s lead continued, but a low one- or two-point one. However, the rivals increased their lead as time went on, until finally ending the match at 27:23.

Poland’s next match is on Friday, 20 January. This time the rival will be Montenegro. Despite this, the White Reds no longer have a chance to advance to the quarter-finals.
