Poland’s President Andrzej Duda celebrates food security and honors farmers at the Presidential Harvest Festival in Warsaw, emphasizing unity and responsibility in challenging times.

Poland’s President Andrzej Duda expressed gratitude for the country’s food security and self-sufficiency during the main ceremony of the Presidential Harvest Festival in Warsaw. He credited the dedication and hard work of Polish farmers for ensuring a stable food supply, even during challenging times such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Duda acknowledged that Polish store shelves remained well-stocked with food products, thanks to the relentless efforts of Polish farmers. He also addressed the ongoing tensions in the grain market, emphasizing the importance of not blaming Ukrainian citizens, many of whom sought refuge in Poland, for the situation. He urged that the responsibility for resolving market issues lies with the authorities.

While expressing support for the Polish government’s goodwill, President Duda stressed that their paramount duty is to protect the interests of Polish farmers. He affirmed that the government’s primary responsibility is to serve the Republic of Poland and its people.

The festivities began with a solemn Mass at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph the Betrothed. President Duda and the First Lady awarded diplomas to groups from fourteen provinces for their participation in the competition for the most beautiful wreath. The Presidential Couple then led a Harvest Parade accompanied by artists from “Mazowsze” to the main ceremony at the Presidential Palace courtyard.

At the ceremony, the Presidential Couple presented trophies to the winning groups in the competitions for the most beautiful harvest wreath and for Rural Women’s Circles. The results were announced on Saturday in the presence of the First Lady.

The Presidential Harvest Festival not only celebrates Poland’s food security but also highlights the importance of supporting and protecting the nation’s farmers in the face of global challenges. President Duda’s message of unity and responsibility resonates as Poland continues to uphold its self-sufficiency in food production.
