In just four days, Poland’s national football team, under the leadership of coach Fernando Santos, will kick off their next training camp. On Thursday afternoon, the Portuguese manager officially unveiled the squad for the upcoming matches against the Faroe Islands and Albania. Poland’s journey in the Euro 2024 qualifiers has been far from smooth, with only three points from three games, earned in a home clash against Albania. The painful defeat to Moldova was a low point, as they squandered a 2-0 lead to lose 2-3. Criticism has been directed at both the players and the coach following that match.
The national team will have a chance for redemption in early September. Exactly a week from now, they will face the Faroe Islands at the PGE National Stadium, followed by an away game against Albania just three days later.
Santos Unveils Squad
On Thursday afternoon, Santos appeared at the PGE National Stadium to announce the list of players called up for the upcoming camp, starting next Monday. One exciting addition is the inclusion of a debutant, Adrian Benedyczak. The offensive player has had a stellar start to the season with Italy’s Parma.
The squad features some of Poland’s biggest stars, including Robert Lewandowski, Piotr Zieliński, and Wojciech Szczęsny. Notably, there are significant returns to the squad, with Grzegorz Krychowiak and Kamil Grosicki making their way back into the team after being omitted by the coach.
