Record Low Unemployment Rate in 34 Years
In July 2024, Poland recorded its lowest unemployment rate for the month in 34 years, at 5%, according to the Ministry of Family, Labour, and Social Policy. This rate remained unchanged from July 2023. The lowest regional unemployment rates were observed in the Wielkopolskie (2.9%) and Śląskie (3.6%) voivodeships. At the end of July, 766,400 individuals were registered as unemployed, a decrease of 16,100 compared to the same period last year. Job vacancies increased, with employers reporting 94,200 openings, especially in manufacturing and construction.
Poland Leads in Low EU Unemployment Rates
Poland remains one of the EU countries with the lowest unemployment rates, according to Eurostat. In June 2024, the unemployment rate calculated by Eurostat’s standards was 3%, significantly lower than the EU average of 6% and the eurozone average of 6.5%. This achievement placed Poland second in the EU for the lowest unemployment rate, just behind the Czech Republic, which recorded a rate of 2.7%.
