An overwhelming 83% of Poles are against the Polish government accepting illegal migrants being sent back from Germany, according to a survey conducted by the Pollster Research Institute on behalf of TV Republika.

Pollster asked respondents whether the Polish government should accept illegal migrants being returned from Germany.

  • 83% of Poles answered “no”
  • 7% said “yes”

The survey was conducted by the Pollster Research Institute using the CAWI method on a representative sample of 1,003 adult Poles between April 3–4, 2025, commissioned by TV Republika.

9,000 Deported to Poland

According to data shared by journalist Aleksandra Fedorska, approximately 9,000 migrants were deported to Poland by Germany in 2024. These numbers are confirmed by documents available on the Bundestag’s website.

The situation is causing concern among Polish citizens. Numerous protests are being held in border regions, opposing Germany’s migration policy and the perceived inaction of the Polish government.

Merz’s Secret Plan

Friedrich Merz, the likely future Chancellor of Germany, is reportedly working with neighboring countries on a “secret plan” to deport migrants, according to a recent report by Welt. The Polish government is said to be involved in implementing this plan. German media suggest that a recently adopted law in Poland could make this process easier.
