Poles Losing Trust in the EU: Record Levels of Distrust Reported

According to the latest poll, Poles’ trust in the European Union has dropped to its lowest level in years.

Honeymoon is Over

The IBRiS research center, commissioned by the Polish Press Agency (PAP), asked respondents about their trust in these institutions.

The survey shows that trust in the European Union fell by 4.4 percentage points, reaching 50.3% in September 2025. The total share of Poles who distrust the Union increased by 11.1 percentage points, reaching 43.8%.

This is the highest level of distrust recorded in recent years. The share of respondents who “rather do not trust” rose in particular (from 14.3% to 23.4%).

“The decline in trust in the European Union may indicate that its role, perceived as primarily economic and political, is losing significance in the face of more pressing challenges,” assessed Kamil Smogorzewski, Director of Communications at IBRiS.

The EU, subordinated to Germany, is failing on every front and is not addressing the challenges it should truly face, but rather pursuing either an ideological, far-left agenda or measures aimed at supporting the German economy. Poles are experiencing all of this directly.
