Police officers have detained 28-year-old Łukasz G., one of the suspects in the murder of a 29-year-old man in Nowy Świat in Warsaw. The man was detained on Monday in Warsaw.

The information about the detention of Łukasz G. was confirmed by the spokesman for the Capital Police Commander, Superintendent of Police, Supt. Sylwester Marczak.

“On Monday, police officers of the Department of Search and Identification of Persons and the Department of Terror and Homicide detained Łukasz G. wanted in connection with the murder in Nowy Świat. The basis for the search was a letter of appointment issued by the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw,” – Superintendent Sylwester Marczak explained.

“The operational work of the police officers proved to be crucial in this case. I do not doubt at all that the other two cannot sleep peacefully. It is only a matter of time before they are apprehended,” the police officer pointed out. At the same time, he assured that from the very beginning, there was important cooperation between investigators from the police and the public prosecutor’s office in this case.

“The suspect will be immediately brought to the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, where he will be charged with the murder of a 29-year-old man by stabbing the victim three times in the chest with a sharp instrument, which resulted in the victim’s death,” Aleksandra Skrzyniarz, spokeswoman for the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office, conveyed.

The murder of the 29-year-old in Nowy Swiat in Warsaw occurred on the morning of 8 May last year. An injured man entered one of the shops. The police were called to the scene, as well as the emergency services. Despite the medical assistance provided and the efforts of doctors, the man died.

In this case, in addition to the detained Łukasz G., 25-year-old Dawid Mirkowski and 24-year-old Sebastian Włodarczyk are being prosecuted with a letter of appointment. As previously reported by prosecutor Aleksandra Skrzyniarz, the court applied temporary custody to the prosecuted men, which enabled the prosecutor to issue a letter of appointment and implement the search.

PAP (Polish Press Agency – ed.) learnt that 28-year-old Łukasz G. was already known to law enforcement authorities. The man was a co-suspect in the trial of Krzysztof U. alias Fama, accused of setting fire to a club on the Foksal Street.

The man was sentenced by the District Court in Warsaw at the beginning of February 2021 for his complicity in the arson of the club to 3 years and 6 months in prison. The court also imposed a fine on him. On 6 May 2022, the court of second instance (Court of Appeal in Warsaw – ed.) reduced the 27-year-old’s sentence to 3 years in prison. The court’s verdict, in this case, is final. Two days after the sentence became final, Łukasz G. together with Sebastian Włodarczyk and a third man took part in a murder in Nowy Świat in Warsaw.

In turn, 24-year-old Dawid Mirkowski, as unofficially learned, is a mixed martial arts fighter, who in the past was, among others, a representative of Warsaw’s Garuda Muay Thai Gym club. Mirkowski fought at least a dozen fights in his career and took part in DSF, KOK or Virtuoz galas.

The third wanted man, 23-year-old Sebastian Włodarczyk, as established, was also already known to the capital’s law enforcement authorities. In mid-August 2017, he was involved in a beating of a bus driver at a bus terminal on Ossowskiego Street in Warsaw’s Targówek district.
