Police reportedly harassed him over a “Donald T. betrayal line” banner. The tragic end of Mr. Kazimierz’s story

“He was repeatedly summoned by the police, had to report to the station,” acquaintances of Mr. Kazimierz from Nadarzyn told us. In the spring of 2025, officers came to his home and ordered him to remove a banner placed on his private fence reading “Donald T.’s line of betrayal.” According to their account, the elderly man could not withstand the pressure and ultimately took his own life.

The story began nearly a year earlier.

Kazimierz Lidke, a resident of Nadarzyn, had displayed a banner on his fence referring to the controversial 2011 defense plan along the Vistula River line, which was declassified in 2023 by then Minister of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak.

“Donald T.’s line of betrayal. They wanted to hand over half of Poland to the enemy,” the banner read.

“The intercom rang, my wife answered and said the police had come. I went out, surprised. In my 74 years of life, it was only the third time I had dealings with the police. They told me to take the banner down because I was spreading hate speech,” Mr. Lidke said in April 2025 in an interview with TV Republika.

The banner originally also featured an image of Donald Tusk. As Lidke himself noted, “he couldn’t find a smiling photo of the prime minister.” The first banner was confiscated by the police.

The man was later summoned for questioning as a witness at a police station.

“I said the banner speaks for itself. It’s a fact—facts are not debated. That’s all,” Lidke explained. He added that the interrogation record was to be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

However, the case ended in tragedy. According to niezalezna.pl, Mr. Kazimierz died by suicide in August 2025. He was 74.

Neighbors told the outlet that the man had been repeatedly called in by the police and had to report to the station. “He couldn’t handle the pressure,” they said.
