LOT Polish Airlines achieved a significant milestone in July, as the national carrier reported transporting more than a million passengers on its flights. The airline’s press release highlighted a remarkable seat factor of 83.5%, marking a growth of over 4 percentage points compared to the same period in 2019.

July marked a historic moment for LOT Polish Airlines, with the carrier recording its highest number of passengers in a single month throughout its 94-year history. A total of 1,041,427 passengers were welcomed on board, reflecting a robust resurgence in travel demand.

Michał Fijoł, the CEO of PLL LOT, expressed gratitude to passengers for their trust and emphasized the successful first half of the year. He reaffirmed the airline’s optimistic projections, stating that LOT aims to transport 10 million passengers this year. Fijoł’s outlook on the summer results is positive, echoing the sentiment that the aviation industry is on a path to profitable growth.

    Recovery Amidst Challenges

The July 2023 passenger figures underscore the aviation industry’s recovery from the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The rebounding number of travelers suggests a higher demand for air travel than during the same period in 2019, a promising sign of rejuvenation.

Within the domestic network, Krakow, Gdansk, and Wroclaw saw the highest passenger traffic, with 28,260, 25,485, and 22,098 passengers respectively. On short-haul routes, London, Vilnius, and Tel Aviv emerged as top destinations, with 27,321, 22,269, and 22,080 passengers respectively. Notably, long-haul flights witnessed exceptional popularity to New York, Toronto, and Chicago, recording passenger counts of 30,724, 29,596, and 23,507.
