Polish Diaspora’s Influence in Key Swing States
Donald Trump’s return to the White House in 2024 was secured largely by support from Polish-American voters in crucial swing states, as revealed by a detailed analysis from Politico. Just as in 2016, Trump relied on strong backing from these communities, with key counties in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan showing decisive Polish-American support.
Trump’s Outreach to Polish-Americans
Trump’s campaign included unprecedented outreach to the Polish-American community, highlighted by an exclusive interview with Poland’s Republika TV. This was a significant gesture, as the network became “the only Polish TV station invited to Trump’s election night at Mar-a-Lago,” said Republika editor-in-chief Tomasz Sakiewicz. Commenting on the role of Polish-Americans, Sakiewicz noted, “Donald Trump won with Polish votes… These votes gave him victory in 2016, did not give him victory in 2020, and again brought him victory in 2024.”
Victory in Key Swing States
Swing states, or those without strong partisan leanings, proved critical for both campaigns. With seven such states in play, Trump won four and led in three others by the end of election night. In Pennsylvania, which holds 19 electoral votes, the support from Polish-American communities in counties like Luzerne and others became crucial, reflecting the strong presence of Polish heritage in these regions.
Republicans Celebrate as Trump’s Path to the White House is Secured
As FOX News was the first to call the election in Trump’s favor, other media soon followed. By Wednesday morning, Trump had the required 270 electoral votes. “Polish voters provided the critical 2-3% margin in states like Pennsylvania, securing his path back to the White House,” stated Sakiewicz. Now, Trump is poised to formally return to power as state authorities complete their procedural counts and electors vote in December.
