All farmers in the European Union speak with one voice – stop Mercosur. This agreement will kill not only Polish but also European agriculture – protesters in Kielce warned.
Recently, Kielce joined the map of agricultural protests in Europe. Members of the Union of Individual Farmers’ Trade Union “Solidarity” appeared in front of the Voivodeship Office. They warned of the threat of unprofitable production, pressure from cheap imports, and decisions by the European Union that increasingly hit local farms.
On Tuesday, they held a press conference during which they appealed to the Polish government regarding the Mercosur agreement.
“We appeal to the Polish parliament to pass a resolution that clearly obliges the Polish government to reject the agreement with the Mercosur countries. It is very dangerous for Polish agriculture – there is no level playing field to compete,” one of the farmers said.
