Polish Farmers Protest in Brussels. United Against the EU-Mercosur Agreement [VIDEO]

Farmers from across Europe gathered in the Belgian capital to protest European agricultural policy and the EU-Mercosur trade agreement. Among those blocking Brussels with tractors were also trade union activists from Poland.

Agricultural trade unions in Europe announced a demonstration in Brussels. Poles were also among the participants. Large numbers of agricultural entrepreneurs are protesting against European agricultural policy and the EU-Mercosur trade agreement.

The first farmers began arriving in the Belgian capital earlier. Swedes asked by the Independent Farmers’ Trade Union “Solidarity” (NSZZ RI “Solidarność”) admitted that they had set off from their country with their tractors three days earlier in order to reach the venue on time.

However, city services were prepared for hundreds of tractors entering the city – barricades were set up on the streets.

Agricultural machinery also appeared at Luxembourg Square in front of the seat of the European Parliament.

Heightened security measures are also in place due to the ongoing summit in Brussels, which – in addition to politicians from European Union countries – is expected to be attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
