Today, shortly after 5:00 a.m., the Operational Command (RSZ) announced that Polish and allied fighter jets had been scrambled in response to a Russian air attack on Ukraine. Around 7:00 a.m., the fighter jet operation was concluded. According to Ukrainian reports, Russian cruise missiles were spotted this morning over the western regions of Ukraine.
At approximately 5:30 a.m., the Operational Command of the Armed Forces reported that “in connection with the activity of Russian Federation long-range aviation carrying out strikes on the territory of Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft began operating in our airspace”.
The Operational Commander activated all available forces and resources at his disposal – pairs of fighter jets were scrambled, and ground systems were placed on the highest alert.
At 7:00 a.m., information was released confirming the conclusion of Polish and allied air operations.
“Our actions were preventive in nature and aimed at securing the airspace in areas adjacent to the threatened region,” the RSZ stated.
During the night, Russians carried out a massive airstrike using missiles and combat drones. Early in the morning, Ukraine’s Air Force reported via Telegram that cruise missiles were flying over the Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions.
Ukrainian media report that the night’s Russian shelling resulted in fatalities and injuries, including in Dnipro, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and in the Khmelnytskyi region.
Russia also struck Pavlohrad, Nikopol, Mykolaiv, as well as Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
