Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced on Wednesday that the Bumar-Labedy factory in Gliwice, Silesia, will be manufacturing Krab howitzers. This marks an important advancement in the country’s defence capabilities.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak visited the Bumar-Labedy Machine-Building Plant Inc.

“We bring good news,” said Morawiecki. “The Krab will be produced by Bumar in Gliwice. This is what the employees sought, the management sought (…),” he said.

“First of all, there will be the production of Krabs (…) but there will also be a service centre, a repair centre for Leopard tanks,” the PM said.

Last week, defence ministers from Poland, Ukraine and Germany signed a letter of intent at the Ramstein air base in Germany to create a servicing centre for Leopard 2 tanks in Gliwice. The agreement was signed in the presence of the defence ministers of the three countries and seeks to further strengthen the trilateral cooperation between them.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has declared his commitment to reviving the former glory of the Gliwice factory in Silesia. “The production potential of Silesia is tremendous,” he stated. “This region is a crown jewel of Polish industry and it shall stay that way.”

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki emphasized the significance of strengthening the Polish defence industry for the nation’s security. “Our nation’s safety depends on the long-term potential of the Polish defence industry,” Morawiecki asserted.

“We are open to cooperation with Germans, Americans, and Koreans. All these state-of-the-art technological lines will also serve the development of the Polish industry here. and this is the most important thing for me: salaries of Polish employees and new jobs,” he said.
