    Polish Public Sentiment Worsens Amid Political and Economic Decline

    A recent CBOS survey reveals that nearly half of Poles believe their country is heading in the wrong direction. Only 35% of respondents view the situation positively, while the overall political and economic outlook continues to deteriorate. This sentiment is reflective of the increasing pessimism among Poles regarding their country’s future.

    The survey indicates that public sentiment has slightly worsened since June. The percentage of people satisfied with the situation remains steady at 35%, but those who believe the country is on the wrong track have increased by 2 percentage points to 47%. Meanwhile, 18% of respondents remain undecided.

    Optimism is more prevalent among residents of metropolitan areas (52%), those with higher education (46%), and private sector employees outside of agriculture (42%). Conversely, negative sentiments are most common among private farm workers (68%), self-employed individuals (67%), farmers (63%), and rural inhabitants (54%).

    Expectations for the future are also bleak. Only 20% of respondents believe the situation will improve within the next year, a decrease of 4 percentage points from June. Meanwhile, 36% expect it to worsen (up 4 points), and 34% believe it will remain unchanged (down 3 points). The proportion of undecided respondents has risen by 2 points to 9%.

    The political landscape is particularly concerning, with 40% of respondents viewing it negatively, an increase of 5 percentage points since June. Only 16% believe the political situation is good, a decrease of 3 points. Additionally, 38% see it as neither good nor bad, a slight decrease of 2 points.

    Economic perceptions have also declined, with only 27% viewing the economic situation positively, a drop of 5 points from June. Conversely, 30% now view it negatively, an increase of 5 points. The percentage of those who see the economy as neither good nor bad remains unchanged at 38%.

    Overall, the CBOS survey highlights growing dissatisfaction among Poles with the current political and economic conditions, suggesting a challenging road ahead for the country.
