    Polish Sailors Triumph at Kieler Woche Regatta in 49er Class

    Łukasz Przybytek and Jacek Piasecki, representing AZS AWFiS Gdańsk, emerged as the winners in the traditional Kieler Woche regatta in the Olympic 49er class. The event, which marked the 142nd edition of the historic competition, took place in Kiel, Germany, where sailors first competed back in 1882. While the regatta didn’t feature the strongest lineup, it attracted 64 crews from 24 countries, including seven Polish duos, with four finishing in the top 10.


    Following closely behind the victorious duo were Dominik Buksak (AZS AWFiS Gdańsk) and Szymon Wierzbicki (OŚ AZS Poznań), securing the second spot on the podium. The Austrian team of Benjamin Bildstein and David Hussl, who finished 10th in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, claimed the third-place honors.

    Polish Sailors Impress in Top Ten

    Polish sailors showcased their talent with Tytus Butowski (AZS AWFiS Gdańsk) and Łukasz Machowski (MKS Dwójka Warszawa) finishing in 8th place, while Adam Głogowski and Maciej Kruciec (Nauticus Yacht Club Olsztyn) claimed the 9th spot. Mikołaj Staniul and Jakub Sztorch (AZS AWFiS Gdańsk) secured the 14th position and will participate in the Paris 2024 Test Event in Marseille from July 9-16.

    Lilly May Niezabitowska (JK Kotwica Tarnobrzeg) achieved an outstanding second place among 43 competitors in the ILCA 6 class, with Wiktoria Gołębiowska (UKŻ Wiking Toruń) finishing fifth and clinching victory in the final double-point medal race. Laura Szulc (ChKŻ Chojnice) secured the 18th position.

    Michał Strumnik (Przygoda Chodzież) emerged as the victor in the preparatory OK Dinghy class, which featured 35 sailors.
