The Polish women’s volleyball team lost 0-3 (21-25, 36-38, 14-25) to Brazil in their final group stage match at the Olympic Games, securing second place in Group B. This result pits Stefano Lavarini’s team against the reigning Olympic champions, the USA, in the quarterfinals.
The match started well for Poland with an early 6-3 lead, but Brazil soon took over, thanks to key players Gabi and Thaisa. Despite a comeback attempt led by Martyna Czyrniańska, Poland lost the first set 25-21.
The second set saw Brazil build a four-point lead, but Poland staged a remarkable comeback, saving four set points and even taking the lead at 25-24. However, Brazil eventually won the set 38-36 in a thrilling finish.
In the third set, Brazil quickly gained a 6-2 lead and continued to dominate, capitalizing on Poland’s reception issues. Despite a brief improvement, Poland couldn’t recover, losing the set 14-25.
With their second-place finish, Poland will face the USA in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, August 6th.
