According to an SW Research poll conducted for rp.pl, more than 57 percent of Poles believe that Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda should lose her ministerial post over the scandal at Southern Hospital.
The case of Dawid Kacprzyk and his astronomical earnings in the healthcare sector, which triggered a wave of shocking reports about the situation at Warsaw’s Southern Hospital, has been stirring public opinion for nearly two weeks.
Various representatives of the ruling camp have spoken out on the matter, from Rafał Trzaskowski, the mayor of Warsaw, under whose authority the hospital operates, to Marcin Kierwiński, the interior minister and head of Civic Coalition’s Warsaw structures, and Prime Minister Donald Tusk. What had been missing, however, was a response from Health Minister Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda.
On Wednesday, the health minister limited herself to an online statement in which she announced that inspections had been ordered at the emergency departments of Southern Hospital and Bródno Hospital. On Thursday, Sobierańska-Grenda appeared at a press briefing, where she spoke about eliminating excessive salary disparities.
On Friday, speaking on neoTVP, Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda argued that the state had acted properly in connection with the scandal at Southern Hospital.
At the same time, she added that she “cannot resolve the issue of the doctor who worked in the emergency department without qualifications,” citing her lack of knowledge of the contract’s contents as the reason.
Poles, however, appear certain about the personnel decision that should be made. According to the SW Research poll for rp.pl, more than 57 percent of Poles believe that Sobierańska-Grenda should lose her ministerial post over the scandal at Southern Hospital.
A total of 18.5 percent of respondents took the opposite view, while more than 24 percent had no opinion on the matter.
