“Poznań is trying to catch up with Rafał when it comes to doing favors for developers. Right next to the Cathedral, on Ostrów Tumski – the cradle of the Polish state – they’re planning to build nine-story apartment blocks,” wrote user Zygfryd Czaban on platform X.
“It’s like putting a gas station with a McDonald’s and a truck parking lot right between the Cathedral and the Castle at Wawel.”
The user points out that the Mayor of Poznań and the City Council are dominated by Civic Platform local politicians.
Ostrów Tumski in Poznań is the oldest, most historic part of the city, located between the Warta and Cybina rivers. It is considered the birthplace of the Polish state and the site of Poland’s baptism. The area holds exceptional historical significance and is home to landmarks such as the Poznań Cathedral, the Genius Loci Archaeological Reserve, and the Gate of Poznań Heritage Centre.
