President Andrzej Duda of Poland has posthumously awarded the Cross of Merit for Bravery to the late firefighter Łukasz Włodarczyk. This honor recognizes his extraordinary courage in life-threatening conditions. Włodarczyk tragically lost his life during a rescue operation in Poznań. The medal was presented to his widow, Magdalena Włodarczyk, by Andrzej Dera, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, during a funeral ceremony in Tuchorza.
A Tragic Incident in Poznań
The tragic fire broke out in Poznań’s Jeżyce district during the night between Saturday and Sunday. The rescue operation claimed the lives of two firefighters and left 11 others injured. A funeral for the second victim, Patryk Michalski, is scheduled for Friday in Poznań. Michalski also tragically died while responding to the fire on Kraszewski Street. These brave firefighters are remembered for their ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
