“I believe it was Donald Tusk who recently said that gangsters are in power. The media made some fun of that remark. I have my own opinion about what Prime Minister Tusk has been doing to Poland over the past several, soon to be dozens of, months—about the violations of the law,” said President of Poland Andrzej Duda.
President Duda: “Karol Nawrocki is my candidate”
President Andrzej Duda gave an interview to Radio ZET, where he spoke, among other things, about his support for Karol Nawrocki, who will face Rafał Trzaskowski in the second round of the presidential election on June 1.
“We all had our youth—some had a more turbulent one, some less so. Recently, people have been revisiting Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s youth, and it certainly wasn’t uneventful either. So let’s take it easy. I look at who a person is today, how responsible they are, how responsibly they handle the duties entrusted to them—especially matters of state—how they act, who they are. And for me, Karol Nawrocki is my candidate,” he said.
He added that “real support means casting your vote, and I’ll be doing that soon.” He also emphasized that he has no regrets about endorsing a candidate backed by Law and Justice (PiS).
Tusk’s “Gangsters” Remark
The president also commented on Donald Tusk’s recent statement that “political gangsters are running Poland.”
“I believe it was Donald Tusk who said gangsters are in power. The media ridiculed it a bit. I have my own opinion about what Prime Minister Tusk has been doing to Poland over the past several, and soon to be dozens of, months—about breaking the law, forcefully taking over the public broadcaster, essentially seizing the prosecutor’s office by force, violating the Constitution by him and his associates. I have a view on that—and it’s a critical one,” he said.
