President Duda Responds to Braun’s Statement: “Such Words Deserve Only One Thing in Poland – Condemnation!”

“With the deepest sorrow, but also with firmness, I respond to any words that undermine the historical truth of the Holocaust and deny the suffering of millions of victims of the German death camps,” President Andrzej Duda wrote on social media on Friday. His statement came a day after MEP Grzegorz Braun questioned the crimes committed by the Nazis in Auschwitz.

“Auschwitz with gas chambers is, unfortunately, a fake,” MEP Grzegorz Braun said on Thursday in an interview with Radio Wnet. Anyone who says this will be accused of terrible things and denounced.” The interview was interrupted following his remarks.

Braun’s statement sparked widespread outrage and was reported to the prosecutor’s office. The case will be handled by the Chief Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation at the Institute of National Remembrance. Strong public reactions to Braun’s words continue to pour in. On Friday, President Andrzej Duda added his voice online.

“Only one thing: condemnation!”

“Edward Mosberg, whom I had the honor of calling a friend, survived the hell of the German camps. He was a witness to the Holocaust, a voice for those who were murdered,” Duda began his post.

He emphasized that Mosberg “dedicated his life to reminding the world of the value of remembrance – and the profound responsibility of safeguarding the truth.”

“That is why, with the deepest sorrow but also with determination, I respond to any words that undermine the historical truth of the Holocaust and deny the suffering of millions of victims of the German death camps,” Duda added, stressing:

“Such words deserve only one thing in Poland: condemnation!”
