President Duda: The Fundamental Duty of Polish Authorities Is to Build a Safe Poland

“No one today has any doubt that the absolute, fundamental duty of members of the authorities of the Republic of Poland is to build a safe Poland,” said President Andrzej Duda during a meeting with the heroes of the Warsaw Uprising.

On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising, a gathering is taking place at the Warsaw Rising Museum with the heroes of the uprising, along with a ceremony for the presentation of state decorations.

“I have always accepted the invitation to meet with the heroes of the Warsaw Uprising-the heroes of today’s Poland-with gratitude, emotion, and a deep sense of honor. A Poland rooted in memory that is fundamentally important to its existence, to fostering a patriotic spirit, to understanding our history, and to comprehending what patriotic duty truly means,” said President Andrzej Duda.

He addressed those gathered with the words:

“The Warsaw Insurgents fought for the Poland they were born into: free, sovereign, and independent. You reclaimed it and continue to strengthen it. Although your hands may not be as strong as they once were, you are still here with us.”

He went on to emphasize how crucial it is to build a secure Poland.

“That is why no one today has any doubt that the absolute, fundamental duty of members of the authorities of the Republic of Poland is to build a safe Poland. Especially after the Russian aggression against Ukraine, no one has the slightest doubt that it is worth dedicating all available resources to ensure that the Polish army is strong and that it provides security for Poland,” said Duda.

He continued: “But above all, as I just mentioned, today the most important world leaders are coming here, to our country, and they speak of the Warsaw Uprising, even though for many years they remained silent-out of shame as well-fully aware that Poland and the insurgents were abandoned by their allies 81 years ago. But today they also come here with a greater sense of calm, because they have sent their troops here, to support Poland’s security, to guarantee that security.”
